What kind of instruction will my child receive?

Our summer camp daily schedule is as follows:

  • 9:30 -11:30am Sewing in the studio
  • 11:30am-12noon Lunch (please pack a lunch or, students may leave the studio with written parent permission
  • 12-2pm Fashion Industry Lessons and Guest Speakers
  • 2-4pm Fashion Illustration & Creating a Fashion Brand

Our instructors are all graduates of fashion programs from schools like FIT and Parsons. Our camper/teacher ratio is 5:1 in sewing class and 4:1 for walking field trips (3:1 for trips involving car service).

In a sewing class students begin using sewing machines day one. Instructors will teach the class how to safely use a sewing machine, thread a machine and actually sew garments. Teen students get to design their own garments and will shop for fabric and supplies on day 1.

In addition to sewing campers will learn fashion illustration each day; this includes sketching, designing and using paint and fashion markers to develop their designs.

We will also have select guest speakers visit who talk about their experience which may include design, merchandising and even starting their own line. Our guest speakers are all professionals who currently work in or own their own companies in the fashion industry. All guest speaking time includes an activity so our campers get to be hands on while learning from a pro!
